First time here and I really enjoyed it. In Boston for family stuff and stopped off for a great cold in house beer on tap and a delicious lobster roll. Sat at the bar listened to music and had a peaceful lunch. Highly recommend stopping In for a bite.

Okay... full disclosure, the clam strips were so delicious I ate half before I could take a picture! We took an out of town visitor to the Quincy Market by Faneuil Hall but it was so crowded we didn't have the heart to battle the crowds to grab a quick bite to eat. We ate at the Salty Dog so we could have somewhere to sit while we were out showing my nephew the sites around Boston. He ordered the lobster roll which I didn't get a picture of, but you can scroll through other people's photos. I thought it looked a little different on a Kaiser bun instead of a top split hot dog style bun but he enjoyed it. It's also only served chilled without a warm option which I prefer slathered in butter! But because they didn't offer the warm style I stumbled on their clam strips which were absolutely FANTASTIC!!! Best ever. The inside of the tavern is very small so it may fill up in busy times. The service was quite good and the wait staff were very friendly. All in all it was a positive and pleasant experience.

Menu was simple, we had some mussels, clam chowder, and Cajun chicken. All the food was good. We especially liked the mussels. The service was friendly and quick. The place is small with a lot of characters.

Came in on Tuesday night the week of Thanksgiving. We are from out of state very cute interior. Employees are polite. Ordered a few drinks kept it simple. Had a bloody Mary a beer and a peach sangria. Everything looked clean you're able to walk right through the kitchen to go from the dining area to the bar, didn't eat anything, but would come back and try it.

We decided to stop and try their clam chowder and oysters, have a glass of wine and people watch a bit during our recent Boston visit. People watching was on point as well as the oysters. Oysters were clean, briny and super yummy. Clam chowder was really thick and clam "bits" tasted old. I will definitely be back for more oysters, wine and some great people watching.

The drinks & apps were very good! The service was friendly, but a bit slow due to being busy. The location is awesome. When we went, the inside was closed so the only tables available were on the patio, which was a bit toasty for the day. We made the best of it by moving our chairs under the umbrella.

Based on our experience, I have to give the Salty Dog five stars. We had a few hours to take in Boston and after taking a tour and getting some shopping in, we happened to be walking by the Salty Dog looked like a great place to take a break and have a drink and afternoon snack. We were greeted by a very nice young lady and seated outside right away. I think they mentioned that only outdoor seating was open because the weather was so nice. I ordered the patriots punch and my husband had a beer. My drink was beautiful, fun, and delicious! A perfect drink for people watching in a busy tourist area. The calamari was very well done, crispy and light on the outside and tender inside. We both enjoyed it thoroughly. If you're walking through Boston and looking for a nice place to snack and people watch, stop by the Salty Dog!
